Privacy Statement

Scope

This statement explains what personal data the journal collects, why it is collected, who has access to it and how long it is kept. It applies to everyone who registers with, submits to, reviews for, or edits the journal.

What we collect and why

The journal collects only what is necessary to operate peer review and publish articles:

• Identity and contact details — name, email address, affiliation, country, ORCID identifier. Used to manage submissions, correspond with authors and reviewers, and to identify authors in published articles.
• Account credentials — username and an encrypted password.
• Submission and review records — manuscripts, review reports, editorial correspondence and decisions.
• Areas of expertise — provided voluntarily by reviewers, used to match reviewers to manuscripts.
• Technical data — server logs recording access times and system events, used for security and to diagnose faults.

The journal does not collect personal data for marketing purposes, does not sell or rent personal data, and does not transfer it to third parties for advertising.

Data that becomes public

Information contained in a published article is public and permanent: author names, affiliations, ORCID identifiers, the corresponding author's email address, and the declarations required by the journal's policies. Authors should submit only contact details they are willing to have permanently associated with their work.

Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors and are not published. Peer review reports and editorial correspondence remain confidential indefinitely.

Sharing with third parties

Personal data are shared only where necessary to publish and disseminate the work:

• Indexing services and aggregators, which harvest published article metadata.
• The journal's hosting provider, which stores the data on the journal's behalf and processes it only on instruction.

No other disclosure is made unless required by law or by the investigation of a research integrity concern, in which case an author's institution may be contacted.

Retention

Registration data are retained while the account remains active. Submission and review records are retained permanently, as they document the editorial process and may be required if the integrity of a published article is later questioned. Rejected and withdrawn submissions are retained in the editorial system for the same reason.

Your rights

You may access, correct or request deletion of your personal data, withdraw consent to receive journal notifications, and object to specific processing, by writing to the editorial office. Requests are answered within 30 days.

Two limits apply. Data forming part of a published article cannot be deleted, as this would break the integrity of the scholarly record. Records of the review process are retained for the same reason.

Notification emails can be switched off at any time in your account profile without deleting the account.

Cookies

The journal's platform uses cookies only for session management  keeping you logged in as you move between pages. No advertising, profiling or third-party tracking cookies are used.

Security

Data are stored on secured servers, transmitted over encrypted connections, and accessible only to editorial staff who require access for their role. In the event of a breach affecting personal data, those concerned will be informed.
